Inserting the battery and memory card
- Open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover.
- Insert the battery and memory card.
- With the battery’s positive and negative terminals oriented correctly, move the yellow battery latch (1), and fully insert the battery (2).
- With the memory card oriented correctly, slide it into the memory card slot until it clicks into place (3).
- Be careful not to insert the battery or memory card upside-down or backward, as this could cause a malfunction.
- If the write-protect switch of the memory card is locked, you cannot shoot, delete images, or format the memory card.
- Camera data, including images and movies, can be saved either on a memory card or in the internal memory. To use the internal memory, remove the memory card.
- Close the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover.
- Lay the cover completely flat in the direction indicated by the arrow (1), and fully slide it in (2).
- Sliding the cover while it is open may damage the camera.

Turn the camera off and make sure that the power-on lamp and screen have turned off, and then open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover.
- Move the yellow battery latch to eject the battery.
- Gently push the memory card into the camera to partially eject the memory card.
- Be careful when handling the camera, battery, and memory card immediately after using the camera, as they may be hot.
Memory cards that can be used
The camera supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards.
- Memory cards with an SD Speed Class rating of 6 (Video Speed Class V6) or faster are recommended for recording movies. When using a memory card with a lower Speed Class rating, movie recording may stop unexpectedly.
- If you use a card reader, make sure that it is compatible with your memory card.
- Contact the manufacturer for information on features, operation, and limitations on use.
